CatDex ("we", "our", or "us") is a mobile application that helps you identify and collect cat breeds using your camera. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

• Photos: When you use the scanner, you take or select a photo. That image is sent to our server solely to identify the cat breed and is not stored.
• Seen breeds: The list of breeds you have discovered is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. We never transmit or store this data on our servers.
• No account required: CatDex does not require you to create an account and does not collect your name, email address, or any other personal information.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Photos are sent to our API proxy (hosted on Vercel) and forwarded to Anthropic's Claude API solely to identify the cat breed in your image. Images are not stored after identification.
• Breed data (names, descriptions, images) is fetched from The Cat API (thecatapi.com).

3. Third-Party Services

• Anthropic: We use Anthropic's Claude API to analyze cat images. Images are processed according to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
• The Cat API: Breed information is retrieved from The Cat API, subject to their Privacy Policy.
• Vercel: Our API proxy is hosted on Vercel. Requests may be logged by Vercel per their Privacy Policy.

4. Camera and Photo Library Access

CatDex requests access to your camera and photo library only to let you take or select photos for breed identification. We do not access your camera or photos without your explicit action, and we do not store your photos.

5. Children's Privacy

CatDex does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. The app does not collect personal data from any users.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the new policy.
